Meet Your Match
CCAS Newsletter - March 2018

The Heart of CCAS - Our Volunteers!

With Volunteer Appreciation Week right around the corner, we wanted to focus this month's newsletter on the lifeblood of Contra Costa Animal Services (CCAS) -- our volunteers! For some people, volunteering is about giving. For CCAS volunteers, it's a way of life. Their daily acts of kindness and compassion, and their knowledge and experience of our department and the animals, make them real life superheroes who ensure that our furry friends are cared for, enriched and find loving homes every single day.

With wages in licks, wags and purrs, perks in the form of bringing smiles to people's faces who've found their match, and benefits including love and companionship - this is a CCAS volunteer's reward for volunteering with all their heart.

If you're ever at one of our shelters, be sure to find a volunteer and thank them. Because without our volunteers, none of what we do would be possible. (Read more)

Spring into Microchipping and Licensing

April Promotion: Spring Into License & Microchip Awareness

As we head into our big Licensing Awareness Month in May, we thought we'd get a bit of a head start. And there's never a wrong time to promote license and microchip awareness, which is why CCAS is covering the license and microchip fees for all dog adoptions from April 18 to 28. That's a cost savings of $47 and the added peace of mind that your animal will be easily identified and linked to you if it becomes lost.

St. Pitty's Day

St. Pitty's Day Success!

Our March 17th St. Pitty's Day event was a great success! The shelter was packed with people coming to meet our animals. Our partners at Pet Food Express and McGuire Harley Davidson were making sure everyone had fun and our volunteers adopted out more animals than the last two St. Pitty's Day events total!!! A huge THANK YOU to all of the CCAS volunteers who made this year's event a big success!

More good news!… You don't have to wait until next year's event to fall in love with one of our amazing bully breed friends. Come to our Martinez or Pinole shelters to meet your new best friend today!

Adoption Update
Our boy Sumo (now Bruce) has captured the heart of this little girl. Her favorite thing to do with him is dress him up and take naps together. Congratulations to Sumo/Bruce and his new family.
